A Walk for Safety

One day Amani was speaking out for harmony with her daily peace club at school.

Suddenly, a war started! The girls ran back home, but they were now trapped in their hometown.

During the 18 months of being trapped inside their town, there was little food or water.

Amani and her two younger sisters ran on foot, under the very hot sun

As the girls walked, they tried collecting water in the ponds

While the night came around, the girls were scared of the lions that would sneak around during the night

Throughout the walk, they made it to a river, as they started to cross.

Crossing the river was a bit tricky, since none of the girls knew how to swim

After crossing, Amani realized how much of her childhood was lost!

Finally, as they continued walking, they successfully made it across the desert, as they now live in a camp!

The reason why the book A Walk for Safety was written is because people should understand the things Sudanese people have gone through. While some parts of the story are false, the major parts were from a true direct story. This book is based off an inspiration of two things, A Long Walk to Water, and a true story about an actual girl named Muzdalifa. Know that you are special and keep going no matter what happens throughout your life.
