A Little Light By: Cassandra Ayala
One bright night, Sky, a little star and Sunny, a bunny who lived on a cloud laughed and played games, watching the world below them.
The next night came, but Sunny never showed up to play. Sky asked the other little stars about her and found out that Sunny was very ill and there wasn't anything the other stars could do to help her get better.
Feeling worried Sky went to visit Sunny hoping that she would get better. Sadly, Sunny was to sick to move and simply laid on her cloud talking to Sky. That night, as the stars surrounded her, Sunny passed away, leaving Sky very sad and confused.
Sky cried for days, feeling lost, and slowly her light dimmed. She didn't want to shine if Sunny wasn't with her. She felt alone and scared all at the same time. Will she ever find peace, how will she go on playing without her best friend? The moon reminded her that it is okay to feel sad when we loose someone we love. "Our hearts need time to heal little one and you don't have to pretend that everything is okay" the moon said.
Sky begins to remember all the good times she spent with sunny. She realized that telling other little stars about their games, their laughs, and their stories made her feel as if Sunny was still with her. It made her feel happy and hope full to stay connected to her.
Sky, slowly begins to shine brightly again, but there are still nights she feels a little dim. Sometimes she looks out to Sunny's cloud and wishes she was still there with her. She learns that being happy doesn't mean she has to stop missing her. She can carry her memories of their special friendship wherever she goes and honor Sunny through it.
