One day a little turtle saw a cheetah running very fast. He stared in wonder. How swift those long legs were! Then the turtle’s heart grew heavy. “I can never run like that,” he thought.

Feeling sad, he went home to his mother. “What is the matter, my little baby?” she asked.

“I am so unlucky,” said the turtle. “I cannot run like the cheetah and even a little rabbit is faster than me,” sighed the turtle.

The next day, while the turtle was nibbling grass on the riverbank a little fox came by.

''you ran very slowly” the fox said.

“Well, you are also slower than the cheetah too, and the lion is much stronger than you.” the turtle replied. Hagaag, adba sidoo haramcadka waad orod yar taha, libaaxuna aaduu kaga xoog badan yahay ” Diidiinki ku jawaabay.

The words hurt the little. she turned away and walked home, feeling very sad." Dawacadii yareed erayadi waxay u dareentay sida qaniin. Way iska jeesatay oo wacay aaday gurigeeda iyadoo madaxeeda hoos u laalaado.

Along the path, the fox saw an old owl sitting on a tree. “Little fox, you look so sad today. What has happened?” the owl asked.

The turtle and I are most unfortunate animals in the forest. The cheetah runs faster than me, and the lion is much stronger than me.” the little fox replied.

The owl blinked his wise eyes and said. “Is it a such a terrible thing to worry about? Everyanimal is good at being exactly what it meant to be.”

“How it can't be so terrible, Are you not sad that the peacock has such beautiful wings than yours?”

“No,” said the owl. “The peacock is a peacock, and I am an owl. We are different, and each of us is wonderful in our own way.

The peacock’s wings are lovelier than mine, it is true. But I can see farther and hear better than he ever can. ''I can fly, and my wings carry me quickly wherever I wish to go. Those pretty peacock feathers can't fly as I fly.” the owl whispered

The little fox thought for a moment. “Then why should the turtle and I not be happy?” “Because you are not content to be a fox and a turtle,” said the owl.

“You are a fox. You run faster than the great big elephant. You are cleverer than the giraffe, the lion, and even the cheetah. And the slow little turtle can live far longer than the lion, the cheetah, and most other animals.”

The fox’s eyes grew brighter. “You are right,” she said. “It is not wise to compare myself against the cheetah or anyone else. We are all different, and each of us is good for his way. The cheetah is faster than me—but I am wiser than him.”

“Yes,” said the owl. “From this day on, do not compare yourself with the other animals. Be glad that you are a fox.

From that day the little fox no longer compared herself to the cheetah or anyone else. And for the first time in a long while, she felt truly happy just as she is.
