Raven and the two squeezes

On the first day of school, Raven wore her pink sweater with blue bows. She was ready to make new friends and have recess dance parties! then mom said, "Time for mommy to say goodbye."

Raven held on to mommies feathers. "What if I miss you?" she asked. mom got down beside her. "I'll come back after nap time. Lets do our two squeezes."

Raven squeezed mommies paw twice. mommy squeezed back. “See you after nap time,” mom said with a wave. Raven waved back. Her eyes began to water.

“I miss Mommy,” Raven said to Mrs. bear. “Goodbyes can feel hard,” she said. “Want me to sit with you?” Raven nodded. He squeezed his own feathers twice. Mrs. Reynoso stayed beside her.

When Raven felt ready, he walked over to the art table and started to color. another bird named Owlett was coloring a rainbow. She had a box of crayons with her. Want to color with me asked Owlett. Raven smiled and sat next to her at the little table.

Raven and Owlette colored picture after picture. When recess came the teacher played music and the girls had a dance party!

After nap time, the door opened. Mom was back! Raven ran to him and squeezed his paw twice. “I missed you,” Raven said. Then she grinned. “look at what we colored!”
