Darcy’s Story

This is Darcy. She is walking to school with her father. She just started 3rd grade not too long ago.

Darcy gets upset a lot. 3rd grade is hard! She often struggles more than the other kids.

Darcy struggles with proper handwriting, spelling, and processing. When she sees her classmates thriving with tasks she cannot do, she feels bad about herself and gets embarrassed.

Mrs. Clark, Darcy’s teacher decided to tell Darcy’s father about her struggles.

After speaking to a few different people and doing a few evaluations, Darcy was diagnosed with dyslexia.

After Darcy was diagnosed, Mrs. Clark was able to pull Darcy into a small group to show her how to use tools to help her navigate her Dyslexia. She used speech-to-text to help Darcy with writing.

Mrs. Clark also helped Darcy with phonics to help her with spelling.

Finally, Mrs. Clark worked with Darcy on syntax to help her structure her sentences.

And slowly but surely…

Darcy was catching up to her peers! She felt less embarrassed in class and started to become more confident in herself.

The End!
