The light in hidden places

It is Ethiopia 1998 in the Eritrean-Ethiopian war. There is a nice family in a village living in a hut.

The family is at the dinner table, eating, and laughing. But there was no water, so the mother in the family made her youngest son, Dawit, to get water from the pond.

A soldier knocked on the door, the father of the family opened it. Suddenly, the bad men shot the father.

The mother and the children were scared, they went to the back door where Dawit was at to grab him and run from the hut.

But the bad men saw them, and followed them. One of the soldiers shot the mother, leaving their village in panic.

Dawit, and the rest of his siblings ran in the woods, far from home, but then a mysterious man caught them and grabbed the children.

The man took them to a mysterious place, but it was actually a refuge camp, and the man was an aid worker from the USA.

The aid worker was teaching the children English, but the children didn't know why.

A few months later, Dawit and his siblings were pretty good in English and the aid worker told them it was a surprise. They were going to the USA.

The children were so happy, Dawit couldn't believe what he heard. The aid worker took them to Manhattan and raised the kids there.

The kids learned a more English from the man, and they also went to school.

2 years later, in 2000, the Eritrean-Ethiopian war had ended.

The kids saw it on TV, there were people celebrating.

The kids saw soldiers with their fists up in the air.

Even though the kids missed their parents, they were still happy their country won, and that the man was their for them.
