Amelia Finds A Friend

This is Amelia. She enjoys playing basketball.

Amelia and her family just moved. She is going to a new school.

Amelia is new to this school. She has been feeling lonely during recess.

Amelia sees other kids playing basketball. She wants to join in.

She wishes that someone would invite her to play with them. She is bored.

Amelia wants to join in on the fun. She is too nervous to introduce herself.

She wants to play with them. She is not sure if they will want her to join their game.

Amelia goes home, and talks to her mom. She asks what she should do.

Her mom is happy to hear that she is interested in making new friends. She wants to help her.

Her mom said, "Don't be nervous." Ask to join. They'd welcome another friend to play basketball with.

At recess the next day, Amelia has the courage to go up and ask to play basketball. They say yes!

She really likes basketball. She is glad that is playing with these new people.

After the game is done, Amelia realizes that she forgot to ask her new basketball friends their names. She will ask tomorrow.

Friends could be people that you have things in common with. Amelia likes basketball. So do the people that she played with yesterday.

Amelia wants to become friends with them. They are fun to play with.

The next day at school, Amelia works up the courage to ask for their names. She is happy she did.

She told them how happy she was that she got to play basketball with them. She would like to do another game!

This is Emma! Amelia likes how nice she is.

She learned that Emma had also just moved here. She plays on a basketball team.

This is Charlotte! Amelia learned that she likes to read. Her favorite books are Pete the Cat.

She also found out that Charlotte really enjoys the same TV show as she does. Amelia is glad that she found someone that likes the same stuff as her.

That day during recess Amelia is invited to play basketball with Emma and Charlotte. She has a lot of fun.

Amelia made some new friends. She is happy she will have people to play with at recess now.

Amelia, Charlotte, and Emma are starting to become the best of friends. Amelia is glad she went out of her comfort zone.
