Equal Pay Act

After that Lilly decided to sue the Goodyear company she worked for, the men were getting paid 14,000 more per year.

Her lawsuit was extended all the way to the supreme the federal court.

When Obama got to the case he decided to sign an act. The act was called the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Lilly Ledbetter says "..which amended the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by reinstating that the 180-day statute of limitations for filing a pay discrimination lawsuit resets with each new discriminatory paycheck.."

This act being passed renewed the Civil Rights Act and improved it along with improving or making sure equal pay was fair to everyone. It also removed how long people had to wait to be entitled to file to get discrimination pay claim. Even after the lawsuit Lily never gained any money from Goodyear.

Lilly has changed equal pay for us now by changing the Supreme Court ruling to be more fair by now having the 180 day limitation restart every time a discriminatory pay check is made. She has helped add on to the Equal Pay Oct of 1963. This has helped many people today have the equal pay that is fair to them.
