April Fools
Crayla is a young girl who adores reading and has an abundant amount of books stored on shelves in her room. It’s like a library there. Her birthday was in 1 week. Today was March 31st. Her birthday was on the 7th of April. Her eyes full of sorrow, begged her mum to buy her this new limited-edition book that’s only available for 1 day. Her mum shouted to her, “You already have loads of books, Crayla!!! Be grateful!!!” Crayla went up to her room and a tear raced down her face, her smile turned to a frown, her shoulders slumped with her as she dived onto her bed.
She went to bed with tears in her eyes and remembered not buying the book.
She woke up the next morning, in shock. She gazed at the empty, soulless shelves and rubbed her eyes believing she was dreaming. It wasn’t she tried again but still the same sight. All of her books were gone. Just gone. Like nothing ever belonged there. She froze. Just thought for a moment. Then though ‘Was there ever anything actually there?’. She opened her wardrobe and there was nothing. Under her bed. In the drawers. On her window. By her desk but still there were no books.
She flew down the stairs and stared at her mum, she paused. Right next to where she stood were books. Crayla’s books. “Wait, how, how did they get there?” Crayla exclaimed. “April fools!!!” Crayla forgot it was April Fools. They laughed as they placed all of the books back in Crayla’s room and Crayla noticed something. Then Crayla spotted one more book among the pile—the limited-edition book she had wished for.
She gasped, then grinned. ‘You got it for me?’ Her mum smiled. ‘Happy early birthday!’ The shelves were full of books as her room was a library. Again.
