Ollie & Lottie: Busy Little Garden
On a warm, sunny spring morning, Ollie and Lottie were sitting outside on the grass.
In the distance, Lottie spots a person working on a garden.
Lottie jumps in excitement. She's never seen a garden before. Suddenly, an amazing idea pops in her head.
Ollie looks over at Lottie.
So to work they went. Collecting supplies, seeds and dirt.
Once they got their supplies together, they get to work on building the first part of their garden.
After lots of hard work, they were finally done and the garden was finished. Or so thought Lottie.
"Oh Lottie. We need to plant seeds and water them every day. Then we'll have vegetables."
And do that's what they did. They got back to work, planting seeds and watering them.
Once their work was done, they went to sleep and dreamt about their seeds growing and growing and growing.
They slept and slept until the dark moon blossomed into the bright morning sun.
In the morning, Lottie shook Ollie awake and ran outside to see the beautiful vegetables that grew overnight.
"Why haven't they grown Ollie?" Lottie says.
"Oh Lottie. You have to learn that sometimes things take time. Like gardens. They can take months."
"Months?" Lottie says. She's upset now and runs away with sad tears in her eyes.
She stays in her room for the rest of the day until Ollie comes in.
"Lottie?" Ollie says. "Can I come in?"
Lottie sniffles and nods her head, and Ollie goes to sit on the bed beside her.
'It'll be okay Lottie. You see, sometimes good things take time. Just like the garden. It'll take some time but they'll grow."
"But how do you know? How do you know they'll grow into the vegetables we planted?"
"Well...go to sleep tonight and we'll check back in on them in the morning. Then you'll see how I know."
And so sleep she did. Dreaming about the vegetables they planted in their garden.
In the morning, she sprung out of bed and her and Ollie ran to the garden outside.
Lottie's eyes widen at the sprouts coming from the dirt. "They're growing! They're really growing!"
And after just a few months, Ollie and Lottie had the most beautiful garden in the city, and Lottie was finally happy with the garden they had planted. And her lesson learned was that sometimes things take time but that doesn't mean it won't happen.
