"Me do it"!
A story about Milo
by Karla
"Me do it"!
This is Milo. Milo is two years old. Milo is little, but Milo has a BIG idea. Can you guess what it is?
Every morning, Milo wakes up and says… "ME DO IT!"
3 Mama holds up Milo's shoes. "Let me help you, Milo." Milo shakes his head. "No, Mama. Me do it!"
Milo pushes his foot in. Push, push, PUSH. Uh-oh. The shoe is on the wrong foot! Mama smiles. "You put your shoe on all by yourself! Want to try the other one?"
5 At breakfast, Grandpa reaches for the milk. "Me do it!" says Milo. Milo pours… and pours… and — SPLASH!
Milk on the table. Milk on the floor. Milk on Milo! Milo's lip starts to wobble. Grandpa hands him a little towel. "Spills happen. Let's wipe it together." Wipe, wipe, wipe. Milo did it!
At the park, Milo sees the big slide. Big Sister says, "I'll carry you up." "Me do it!" says Milo. Step. Step. Step. Milo climbs ALL the way up… and WHEEEEE, down he goes!
But sometimes "Me do it" is hard. Milo tries to zip his jacket. The zipper will not go. Milo tries again. It still will not go. Milo stomps his feet and cries, "NO! NO! NO!"
Mama kneels down close. She does not grab the zipper. "Zippers are tricky. You feel mad. Do you want help, or do you want to try one more time?" Milo sniffs. "One more time."
Mama holds the bottom still. Milo pulls the zipper up. Zzzzzzip! "I did it!" shouts Milo. "ME DID IT!"
At bedtime, Milo picks his own pajamas — the ones with the dinosaurs. He brushes his own teeth (Mama brushes a little more). He climbs into his own bed
12 "Goodnight, Milo," says Mama. "You did so many things today." Milo yawns a big yawn. "Tomorrow," he whispers, "me do it… again." The End.
