Maddie Goes to School
Maddie hides under her blankets. "I am not going to school" she yelled out at Mom. "School is so much fun. You play with all of your friends and you love your teachers." Mom tells Maddie.
Even Maddie's sisters try and help her. They tell her all about school. Evelyn tells her about the playground. It has a huge slide! So many swings that she can share with her friends. The monkey bars are high up, but it's fun to watch the big kids swing on them. Evelyn's favorite is the rope ladder that leads to the look out. She loves to be up high and see the whole playground. "I think you will love the playhouse and the spring rider shaped like a butterfly the best Maddie." Evelyn tells her.
Maddie's oldest sister Raelyn tells all about the fun things she will learn while she is at school. "You won't just have class with Ms. Danielle, Maddie. You also have gym class. And art class. They even have music class with instruments." Raelyn goes on to tell Maddie all about story time with her teacher and that she is lucky that she still even gets snack time too. Maddie is starting to think that maybe school isn't so bad. Some of those things sound like fun. But she is still feeling a little scared.
"OK, I will get dressed. I will try this school thing." Maddie declares to Mom. Maddie is being very brave. It is hard to do something new. And go to a new place. Even though her sisters go to this school, she has never. So, it is new for Maddie. The building is much bigger than her preschool and there are so many more kids here. The building is so tall. Maddie can't even see the top. It is touching the sky! There is even a big yellow school bus there.
"So, tell me how your day was, Maddie?" Mom asked. "Well, it was AMAZING!" Maddie shouted while she jumped up and down. She told Mom all about the story about the duck who lost her babies and had to find them. Playing the drums at music class, painting her first tree in art and even how she was not a fan of the raisins they offered her at snack. "It is ok though, I tried them, but I only ate the apples instead." Maddie said. Mom was proud of Maddie. She was so brave and she had a great day. "I cannot wait for tomorrow." Maddie said
