NEW BEGINNINGS
Today started as any other as Samir herded caddle with his older brother. His sisters were out getting water, and his mother was inside.
Everything was going fine until he heard loud noises and shouting. He turned to his brother, Salah, who looked alarmed and almost scared, a rare look on his usually fearless brother.
"Run!" Salah yelled, "Run, and do not look back!" Samir stared, confusion bubbling in his chest. He wanted to ask questions, to know what was going on, but Salah was already ushering him away.
Samir walked for what felt like hours before he finally had the guts to turn around. He was alone. No family, he didn't even get to say goodbye to his mother or sisters. Not even his brother.
After days of walking alone in a crowd full of people Samir did not know, he tried to call out for his parents. No response came.
While Samir walked alone in the crowd, he felt sick. Samir hadn't eaten in days, and he had no family with him.
Samir walked and walked, with no idea on where he was going or what was going on. Until he bumped into something that would change his life.
Samir soon bumps into an older woman, he was about to say sorry when she crouched down, setting herself to his level, asking the question that would change his life.
Samir agrees. Samir holds the woman's hand, he asks her name, Najiya. His savior from the dark and hunger.
In the end, Samir luckily found a new family, though not the same or as big, it was all he needed.
