The Sin of Dancing
The townspeople gathered outside to dance. Dancing mania spread widely, some dancing for days at a time, people loved it! Little did they know, it was a sin!
One day, a horrible illness began to spread around the town. Many, including Paracelsus, believed it was God's punishment for the sin of dancing.
To cure the ill of their sins, originally their conditions were treated by locking them in a dark and unpleasant place, and forcing them to fast on nothing but water and bread. The ill needed to reflect on their sins and be washed of them in order to get better.
Over time, many began to think that continuous dancing could be caused by overheated blood or excessive blood. The cure? Sweating out the rest of the blood or cooling down the blood.
Eventually, it was concluded that the way to cure continuous dancing is by, dancing excessively.
